Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How long is the rope?
How long will the battery last?
A fully charged battery will give the rider at least 10,000 feet of pull(20 full-length runs) on a full charge. Our tests are based on a 250 pound rider starting in deep water, using the full 500 foot line length at full speed and full power.
How does the winch attach?
The most common way of mounting the winch is to a tree, large rock, car tire, or pole. There are several, mounting points on the outside of the winch for attaching straps, webbing, and hooks. Here is a quick video detailing how we typically strap the winch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMwbBVmbeS4
Does Motowinch sell spare parts or accessories?
Yes we sell spare parts like, batteries, grips, spare handles, winch line, and apparel. The site is currently being updated with this information. Please reach out directly if you do not find what you are looking for.
How waterproof is the system?
The handle is IP67 rated, while the ebox and winch are IP65 rated. The handle can be submerged in water while in use up to 3 feet. The ebox and winch can withstand light rain and ocean spray without issue, but they cannot be submerged in water like the handle.
How does the wifi system work?
Our patented wifi system sends a signal between the ebox and handle. As long as the handle and ebox have a clear line of sight between each other, the throttle will work instantly without reception issues up to 1,200 ft in ideal conditions. The throttle on the handle allows the rider 100% control over the speed and power of the pull.
How fast can I go with the winch?
Motowinch has a maximum speed of 35 mph. This will vary depending upon rider weight, riding surface, and what the rider is attached to.
Are there different power modes?
Yes. The ebox has a 3 position mode switch that will change the speed and power. The O position is LOW, the I position is MID, and the II position is HIGH. We recommend every rider, regardless of weight or skill, start in the O position to get comfortable with the power and speed of the winch. MID and HIGH settings give the rider more top speed and available torque compared to the LOW setting.
How do I charge the batteries?
The Motowinch comes with included chargers for the ebox and handle. Please use the included charger and charging bricks only. Please refer to this video for questions about charging the handle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fw-Tx-piiGY. Please refer to this video for questions about charging the ebox https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRBAl_meHjw
